Melanie Morrissette

Mel is a certified Personal Trainer, Supervisor Fitness Leader, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and a qualified instructor for Yoga, Pilates, Weight Training, Group Fitness, and Aquatic Exercises. She is also a specialist in providing tailored exercises for those recovering from cancer, stroke, suffering from arthritis, or osteoporosis. Mel has also developed exercise activities for those with Parkinson’s disease and older adult with mobility limitations. When Mel teaches a class, she incorporates all her knowledge to offer functional exercises for her participants/clients to live longer and to stay independent as long as possible. 

Leah Derro

Meet Leah! Leah originates from Sudbury Ontario and has lived in the sunny Okanagan since September 2021. She completed her Mat Pilates teacher training in Nosara Costa Rica May 2023 through Balanced Body. As a former competitive swimmer, Leah enjoys the body awareness, technicality and flow of Pilates. She looks forward to bringing these into her classes here at Move Well Cafe- along with a good playlist! Leah believes that fitness should be fun and she carries that belief into her Pilates practice. When Leah isn’t teaching Pilates she is probably outside enjoying the sun at the beach, climbing, swimming or snowboarding in the winter.

Shayla McLean

Originally from Campbell River, Shayla is proud to now call the Okanagan home. She combines her education from a Kinesiology degree and her passion for movement each time she teaches to help people rediscover their love for movement. Shayla can be found off the mat coaching for Special Olympics’ and enjoys taking advantage of all the outdoor activities the Okanagan has to offer such as hiking, cycling, running, and swimming!

Capri Verschoor

Originally from Kamloops, Capri moved to Kelowna to pursue her Bachelor of Human Kinetics degree at UBC Okanagan. After completing her practicum placement here she graduated from her degree specializing in clinical exercise physiology. She enjoys working with her clients to create personalized, effective programs to reach their goals, manage pain, and improve their overall wellbeing. Having recently completed her STOTT pilates intermediate reformer training, she looks forward to implementing the practice into her classes and rehab programming. When not at work Capri enjoys taking advantage of outdoor activities including swimming, paddleboarding and hiking!

Lise Dallien MacMillan

Lise is a Nova Scotia native who has made Kelowna her home. She has been instructing a variety of group fitness classes for the past 30+ years. She has found a peaceful balance that accompanies mindful movement practices that has been beneficial for her own body as well as her participants. Lise is trained in Krapula Yoga and Stott Pilates. Her classes have a unique flow that incorporate her varied experience and education in the fitness and movement industry. Outside of the studio she loves to hike with her dog, Molly as well as road cycling and paddle boarding.

Cassie Clark

Cassie first fell in love with Pilates when she moved to Australia in 2018. When COVID hit, she decided she wanted to explore a career in something she was passionate about so she enrolled in the APPI Mat and Reformer Certification course. In 2022, she moved back to Canada and became certified not long after. Her classes embody her vibrant energy, and she carefully selects music that perfectly matches the flow of each exercise. Cassie has found a sense of belonging within the Kelowna Pilates community and loves spending time teaching and connecting with the members.

Courtney Gunn

Courtney was born and raised in Kelowna, BC. She obtained her Bachelor of Human Kinetics in 2022 from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan campus with a specialization in clinical exercise physiology. In 2023, Courtney became a certified pilates instructor and likes to incorporate pilates into her rehab sessions. Having grown up playing a wide variety of sports, she has developed a strong passion for the body and all the different capabilities it processes. During her sessions, she looks forward to helping clients reach their health and wellness goals. When not working, Courtney enjoys spending time with family, walking, bike riding, and wine tasting!
